With top leaders imprisoned, the opposition group notices their spouses taking on more prominent roles

Along with other leaders of the INDIA bloc, Sunita Kejriwal and Kalpana Soren attended a rally in Ranchi where the opposition party launched a fierce attack on the BJP.

The wives of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and JMM’s Hemant Soren, Sunita Kejriwal, and Kalpana Soren, are getting a lot of attention since their husbands got arrested. They’re stepping up in the INDIA camp during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, suggesting they might be gearing up for more significant political roles.

Yesterday, Sunita Kejriwal and Kalpana Soren, along with other leaders from the INDIA bloc, attended a rally in Ranchi. At the rally, the opposition strongly criticized the BJP, accusing them of misusing central agencies to target states ruled by the opposition.

On stage at the rally, two chairs were left empty with name tags for Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Soren, while their spouses sat on the platform.

The JMM arranged the ‘Ulgulan Nyay Mahrally’ in the midst of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. It was a huge show of strength that attracted the leaders of 28 political parties, including Akhilesh Yadav, Mallikarjun Kharge, Tejashwi Yadav, and Bhagwant Mann.

Sunita Kejriwal, speaking passionately during her speech, accused the government of denying insulin to her husband, who has diabetes, while he is in jail. This claim echoes similar statements previously made by the Aam Aadmi Party.

At the rally, Sunita Kejriwal expressed her concerns, stating, “They want to kill my husband, Arvind Kejriwal. His food is monitored by cameras, and he’s being denied insulin. Arvind has been dependent on insulin for 12 years, requiring 50 units daily.”

Sunita Kejriwal asserted confidently that no charges could be proven against her husband. She declared their determination to triumph over what they see as a dictatorship. “We will emerge victorious,” she stated, “The gates of the jail will break, and both Arvind Kejriwal and Hemant Soren will be released.”

Ms. Soren also pointed fingers at the BJP, accusing them of attempting to overthrow opposition-led governments in states. She suggested that the timing of the arrests of Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Soren, just before the elections, was a part of this strategy.

At the rally, she read out a message from her husband, stating, “Central agencies like the ED and CBI are being abused to silence the opposition, but the BJP and its allies will be ousted.”

Mr. Kejriwal was arrested last month by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case related to the liquor policy scam. Despite his arrest, he continues to serve as the Chief Minister, with the AAP asserting that there is no law preventing him from governing while in jail.

Mr. Soren had resigned from his position as the top official before his arrest in January by the ED in a money laundering case associated with an alleged land fraud. In February, JMM leader Champai Soren replaced him as the Chief Minister amidst speculation that Ms. Soren could potentially take over her husband’s position.
