India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has said that he is “gutted” at not being able to join the team and take charge of the bowling attack in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to begin on October 16. His omission is expected to be a major blow for India’s seam attack especially in Australia, where the pitches are hard, bouncy and pace friendly.

Bumrah had been ruled out from the upcoming event by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Medical team following which an announcement was made by the Secretary of the board, Jay Shah. “The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists. The BCCI will be naming a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in the squad for the marquee tournament soon,” the BCCI had said in a statement.

Bumrah had earlier expressed gratitude towards his friends and family for their wishes, adding that he will be cheering for India during the T20 World Cup 2022. “I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia,” the pacer tweeted.
