Siraj to replace injured Bumrah in T20Is against South Africa

Following Jasprit Bumrah’s injury and his omission from the squad for the ongoing T20 I series against South Africa and the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the All-India Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Mohammed Siraj as his replacement for the remainder of the series against the Proteas.

Before the first T20I between India and South Africa at Thiruvananthapuram, the BCCI had ruled out Bumrah after he complained of back pain during a practice session. The fast bowler has suffered a back injury and is under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team.

In a statement on Twitter, the BCCI said, “Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first T20I.”
