Chennai Super Kings registered their first win of IPL 2022 and broke the four-match losing streak as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 23 runs in the 22nd match of the IPL 2022. 

After losing 4 consecutive matches on the trot, CSK bowlers didn’t disappoint while defending a huge target, and restricted RCB to 193/9 in 20 overs. 

Maheesh Theekshana was the most successful bowler for Chennai with 4 wickets to his name, while skipper Jadeja managed 3 wickets. 

For RCB, Shahbaz Ahmed (41) and debutant Suyash Prabhudessai (34) etched a partnership of 60 runs in 33 balls for the 5th wicket, while Dinesh Karthik looked dangerous with 34 runs in 14 balls, but couldn’t manage to finish the game.

In the first innings, Opener Robin Uthappa and middle-order batter Shivam Dube played their respective best knocks in the IPL and powered Chennai Super Kings to the highest total of IPL 2022 – 215/5. 

Robin Uthappa smashed 88 runs off 50 balls with 4 fours & 9 sixes while Shivam Dube smacked 95* runs off 46 balls with 5 fours & 8 sixes. These two etched a mammoth partnership of 165 runs in 74 balls for the 3rd wicket – the highest of the season. 

For RCB, Josh Hazlewood & Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 2 wickets each.
