Sunrisers Hyderabad Outplay Gujarat Titans

A half-century by Kane Williamson sealed Sunrisers Hyderabad’s eight-wicket win over Gujarat Titans to record their second successive win of the tournament.

After the bowlers restricted Gujarat to 162/7, Williamson led the chase with 57 off 46 balls, laced with two fours and four sixes, and found support coming from Abhishek Sharma’s 42 and Nicholas Pooran doing the finishing job with an unbeaten 34.

Abhishek and Williamson added 64 runs for the opening wicket before Rashid Khan provided the breakthrough in the ninth over.

But Williamson continued till the 17th over and made sure Pooran and Aiden Markram didn’t have to panic to finish the game in the last over.

Hardik Pandya’s fifty took Gujarat Titans to 162/7.

On being asked to bat first, the Titans got off to a good start despite losing two wickets – Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan – inside the powerplay. Gujarat scored 51 runs in the first six overs.

GT kept losing wickets at regular intervals but skipped Hardik Pandya looked in complete control from one end. Pandya and Abhinav Manohar added 50 runs in 32 balls for the fifth wicket. Manohar hit 35 in 21 balls before getting out in the penultimate over.
