Ajay Kumar emerged as the star for Gujarat Giants with seven points and scored a crucial point in the last minute to help his team to a tie. Both these teams could have won this match only if they were a little more proactive. V Ajith Kumar was the best raider for U Mumba in the low scoring game. Mumbai’s Rinku also registered a High 5.

Gujarat had a strong start to the match with Rakesh Sungroya and Ajay Kumar leading the raid department. They successfully exploited U Mumba’s unsure defence in the starting minutes. On the other end, Abhishek Singh and V Ajith took turns raiding for U Mumba.

Ajith looked recovered from the back injury he suffered earlier in the season and moved fluently around the mat. However, it was Giants’ defence that dominated the first half, registering three tackle points more than U Mumba. The scoreline read 13-10 at the end of the first half in the favour of Gujarat Giants, but no all-outs were inflicted.

Mumbai had a lack of conviction in the first half after the restart. U Mumba displayed hesitations while going for tackles and slow movement in the raids resulted in Gujarat having a 5-point lead at the first time out.

Girish Maruti Ernak, Parvesh Bhainswal and Sunil started scoring more tackle points as Mumbai coach Rajaguru Subramanian motivated Ajinka Kapre to take up more raids.

As Gujarat sensed an all-out coming their way, Rinku executed a stunning Super Tackle to provide U Mumba momentum. V Ajith Kumar then produced a series of successful raids to level the scores.

Rinku completed his High 5 and Abhishek Singh scored a point in a do-or-die raid to extend U Mumba’s lead with 2 minutes to go on the clock. Ajay Kumar however secured a point in the penultimate raid of the match to help Gujarat stop Mumbai at a 24-24 tie.
