Crystal Palace and West Ham United will meet in the Premier League this week with both clubs trending in very different directions this season.

Crystal Palace may not have thought they would be in a relegation battle a few weeks ago, but you can bet that’s where they find themselves as we look ahead to the next few months of the campaign. Roy Hodgson clearly isn’t the right man for the job anymore at Selhurst Park and it doesn’t take a genius to see that but at the same time, it seems like Palace have to deal with him until the end of the season – so they have to make the best of a bad situation.

Outside of the win over Sheffield United to kick off the new year, Crystal Palace have been pretty inconsistent. They did manage to secure a point against Leicester and Arsenal, but they’ve also been battered by Manchester City and Aston Villa – and they were also knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolves.

It’s been a season beyond the expectations of most West Ham United fans so far as they continue to turn their attention from the bottom half to the European places. There are still going to be some big questions heading into the summer transfer window and that is certainly going to be justified, but right now, Hammers supporters are well within their rights to bask in the glory of what their team has been able to accomplish up to this point.
Since the draw against Southampton to finish off 2020, West Ham have been on fire. They beat Stockport and Doncaster in the FA Cup and also edged out Everton, Burnley and West Brom in the Premier League as their unexpected surge for the top six continues to surprise pundits around the world.
