Odisha FC clinched their first victory of Indian Super League (ISL) 2020-21 as they beat Kerala Blasters 4-2 at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim. However, the Kalinga Warriors still remain at the bottom of the table with just 5 points from 9 matches.
Jordan Murray broke the deadlock for Kerala in the 7th minute through a set piece. . But, Jeakson Singh nullified the advantage fifteen minutes later after his deflection resulted in an own goal.
At the 41st minute Jerry’s cross found Taylor unmarked at the far post and the English defender calmly slotted in to give Odisha the lead before Half time.
Odisha FC pressed Kerala Blasters with purpose and Baxter said that it was a part of the game plan as they wanted to break the opponents’ game early and capitalise on their mistakes.
Second half was all about Diego Mauricio as he inspired the juggernauts with a brace by scoring in the 50th and 60th minutes to extend the margin.
Gary Hooper (79’) scored a consolation for Kerala, but it proved to be not enough to spark a comeback.
Odisha FC stays at the bottom of the table despite its first victory of the season, with five points from nine matches. Meanwhile, Kerala Blasters FC remains at tenth position as well, with six points from the same number of games.
