MMRC is looking for offers to integrate multiple modes at four different stations:

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is taking significant strides to bolster the city’s transportation infrastructure by inviting bids for the implementation of multi-modal integration facilities at four pivotal stations along Line 3. These stations, including Marol Naka, SEEPZ, MIDC, and Aarey, are integral components of Phase 1 of the Metro 3 project, which stretches from BKC to Aarey. With an estimated project cost of approximately Rs 7.74 crore, this initiative underscores MMRC’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and facilitating smoother journeys for commuters across Mumbai’s bustling landscape.

Phase 1 of the Metro 3 project holds immense promise in transforming the city’s transit landscape by linking six major commercial hubs, 30 prominent employment centers, 12 renowned educational institutions, and 11 major hospitals. Additionally, it will offer crucial connectivity to 10 significant transportation hubs, fostering seamless mobility across various parts of the city. Moreover, the integration facilities will cater to the diverse needs of commuters by providing access to 25 religious and recreational centers, while also serving as vital links to both domestic and international airports.

The selected contractor faces a formidable task in completing the development of integrated facilities within a compressed time frame of two months, which includes navigating through the challenges posed by the monsoon season. The scope of work encompasses a wide array of responsibilities, ranging from enhancing footpaths and road infrastructure to installing road markings, signage, zebra crossings, and bicycle parking. These enhancements are essential for optimizing traffic flow and ensuring the safety and convenience of commuters as they navigate through these bustling transport hubs.

The extensive 33.5-kilometer-long Metro 3 project is poised to link six bustling commercial business districts, 30 vital employment centers, 12 prominent educational institutions, 11 major hospitals, and 10 significant transportation hubs. Additionally, it will offer connectivity to 25 religious and recreational centers, ensuring seamless access for commuters. Furthermore, the Metro 3 line will serve as a crucial link to both domestic and international airports, enhancing overall accessibility and connectivity across the city.

Expected to become Mumbai’s busiest metro line upon full operation, the Metro 3 line is projected to serve a staggering 14 lakh passengers by 2024. This significant ridership underscores its crucial role in meeting the city’s escalating transportation needs, offering swift and efficient travel across key commercial, residential, and recreational destinations.

Recently, the MMRC initiated an integrated trial run along the Phase 1 section, spanning from BKC to Aarey. This trial, which began earlier this month, is expected to extend over a period of three to four months. Its primary objective is to facilitate the acquisition of the final certification for commercial operations from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS). This meticulous testing phase underscores MMRC’s commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of the metro system before its full-scale deployment for public use.
