Before the IPL 2023 auction, the Delhi Capitals are reportedly planning to release Shardul Thakur

On December 16, either Bengaluru, India, or Istanbul, Turkey, will host the IPL 2023 auction.

The Indian Premier League franchises will be releasing their players in less than three weeks, and Shardul Thakur is one prominent player that could be released from the Delhi Capitals. The Delhi Capitals franchise plans to release the Indian all-rounder in order to repurchase him at a discount during the IPL 2023 auctions.

While representing India in the T20 World Cup 2022, Thakur is now in Australia. He is present as a reserve player even though he is not a member of the team.

Given that Thakur was purchased by the Capitals for Rs 10.75 crore, it’s possible that his performance didn’t quite live up to the expectations for the money.

He played in 14 games last year but only managed to score 120 runs. Despite capturing 15 wickets, the 31-year-average old’s was 31.5 and his economy rate was close to 10. His first season with the Capitals was a tad below average, despite the fact that he was a notable player for his previous side, the Chennai Super Kings.

The likelihood of Thakur being released is strong, while wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat and batter Mandeep Singh, whose bidding prices were INR 2 crore and INR 1.10 crore respectively, may also be freed.
