Jansen to replace Pretorius in South Africa’s squad for T20 World Cup


Left-arm pacer Marco Jansen has been named as replacement for the injured South African all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Pretorius was ruled out due to a fracture sustained to his left thumb while playing in the T20I series against India.

This comes after middle-order batter Rassie van der Dussen was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 after suffering a left index finger injury which needed surgery last month. Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) National Selection Committee named Jansen in the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, right-arm pace bowler Lizaad Williams has been called up in place of Jansen amongst the travelling reserves. Jansen has proven his effectiveness with the new ball, using his tall height to his advantage along with his ability to wing the ball both ways.
