Pakistan Demolish Hong Kong By 155 Runs To Reach Super Four

Pakistan waltzed into the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2022 cricket tournament with an excellent 155-run thrashing of Hong Kong at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

After powerful knocks by Mohammad Rizwan (78 not out off 57 balls), Fakhar Zaman (53 off 41 balls) and Khushdil Shah (35 not out off 15 balls), Pakistan posted a huge score of 193/2, before blowing Hong Kong away for a paltry 38 in 10.5 overs, their lowest T20I total against a Full Member side. This was also the Babar Azam-led side’s biggest-ever win by runs in T20Is.

None on Hong Kong’s batters reached double figures with extras (10) fetching the most number of runs. The spin duo of leg-spinner Shadab Khan (4/8) and left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz (3/7) shared seven wickets among themselves while young quicks Naseem Shah and Shahnawaz Dahani took 2/7 and 1/7 respectively.

The comprehensive win also means that Pakistan qualifies for the Super Four stage from Group A while Hong Kong, making their debut in the main group stages of the Asia Cup, crashed out. The result also sets up another India-Pakistan showdown in the Super Four match in Dubai on September 4, which is exactly a week after their first meeting in a Group A match.

India and Pakistan could possibly meet three times in the Asia Cup 2022 cricket extravaganza if they both reach the final, too.
