  • No blackjack peeking is allowed by the dealer.
  • A player hand with a value of 21 is automatically defeated by the dealer’s blackjack.
  • If the player and the dealer both hold blackjack hands, the game is pushed.
  • If the dealer’s hand value is 16, they must hit.
  • A soft 17 requires the dealer to stand.
  • Each hand only allows the player to split once.
  • Cards with values of 4, 5, or 10 cannot be divided by the player (e.g. 10-J, Q-K, J-K, etc.)
  • Re-splitting is prohibited for players.
  • Only the numbers 9, 10, or 11 allow for a double down.
  • Split cards let players to double down.
  • In most cases, if the dealer’s face card is an Ace, players cannot resign. If the dealer’s face card is not an Ace but a 10-value card, certain casinos permit surrender.
  • At even money, the payout is 1:1.
  • Blackjack has a 3:2 payout.

How to Play European Blackjack Online

  • To reach 21 as closely as possible without exceeding it is the aim of the game. Your cards will be dealt with you after you place your wager, and the dealer will receive two cards as well.
  • Look at your hand and, if necessary, check the European blackjack strategy to decide if you want to hit (take another card), stand (keep the cards you have), double your wager, or divide your hand into multiple hands. Be aware that the dealer could still be hiding a blackjack.
  • You’ll reach a point when you’ve made the most progress possible with your hand at some point. You’ll continue to be in the game and have a chance to win as long as that hand totals 21 or less.
  • A soft 17 or above cannot be hit by the dealer, who will now expose their face-down card and, as necessary, hit the hand. You win the round if your hand’s worth exceeds theirs.

What Strategy Should You Use?

The European blackjack strategy is very important to understand because it will help you to win. With between 4 and 8 decks, the house edge for European blackjack is around 0.42 percent. The approach to use for this blackjack variation must be adjusted because of the regulation modification. Players will often play more conservatively. Use the following European blackjack strategy.

  • This holds true particularly when the dealer’s opening card is an Ace or a card with a 10-value.
  • The player won’t be able to tell what the dealer’s hand is until after his own hand is finished.
  • Given that the dealer’s blackjack defeats the player’s hand of 21, actions like splitting or doubling down become dangerous.
  • Only hands of 9 to 11 allow for doubling down.
  • No double on 11 when the dealer only has a 10.
  • The prohibition on splitting unrelated cards with values of 4 or 5 or 10 reduces splitting as well.

Difference between European Blackjack and American Blackjack

Difference no.1

Even the most casual blackjack player might not be aware that there are American and European variations of the game. The two games appear to be identical on the surface, and they are the versions that are the norm in both live and online casinos. So if you are confused about both the variations then we will make it easy for you. Read below to know the difference between European Blackjack and American Blackjack.

Difference no.2

The dealer deals the first card in European blackjack face up, but does not deal or study the second card until the player or players have played their hand. American versions of the game also feature a “hole card,” which is initially concealed. However, it is eventually revealed after each player has played their hands. The following circumstance is the only one where this is not true.

Difference no.3

The insurance side bet is available in both the European and American variants of Blackjack if the dealer’s up card is an ace. When playing in the US version of the game, the dealer checks if they have blackjack with their hole card. They lose all other bets as well as the insurance bet if they do not also have a natural blackjack (a push), in which case their investment is refunded, and their investment is pushed. In European Blackjack, the dealer does not peek but waits until all hands have been played before looking for a blackjack.

Difference no.4

In European Blackjack, players may only double on hands worth nine, ten, or eleven, therefore there are significantly fewer possibilities to do so. There are no restrictions on the value of a hand you can double down on in the US edition.

Difference no.5

Blackjack in Europe is more rigid. Only split 10-value cards with the same face value, such as two queens, are permitted; players are only permitted to split once over the course of the game. American rules allow players to split cards up to three times, except for aces, which can only be split once. Additionally, mixed cards with a 10-value, as a 10-king, can be divided.

With all these tips and tricks, you can play European blackjack easily without having any trouble. The European blackjack game is easy once you know the blackjack European rules.
