Rajasthan Royals derailed Lucknow Super Giants’ winning momentum and defeated them by 3 runs in the 20th match of the IPL 2022. 

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 4 wickets while Kuldeep Sen & Prasidh Krishna managed 1 wicket each. However, the tone of the defence was set with Boult’s two consecutive strikes on the first two deliveries, immediately putting LSG on the backfoot. 

Towards the end, Stoinis looked like he might pull off a miracle and win the match with 15 runs required in the last over. Debutant Kuldeep Sen held his nerve to safely defend the total against the explosive all-rounder. Stoinis remained unbeaten on 38 runs in 17 balls with 2 fours & 4 sixes.

For LSG, Quinton de Kock was the top-scorer with 39 runs off 32 balls with 2 fours and a six but was dismissed in the 16th over after opening the innings. 

In the first innings, continuing his good form, the West Indies’ explosive batter Shimton Hetmyer smacked his 3rd IPL fifty as Rajasthan Royals posted a total of 165/5. 

Batting at number five, Shimron Hetmyer smacked unbeaten 56 runs in 36 balls, including four & 6 sixes after getting dropped by Krunal Pandya when he was just 14. 

Devdutt Padikkal provided a good start to the Royals and was the second-highest scorer for the Royals with 29 off 29.
