#5. Michael Hussey (733 runs, IPL 2013)

Australia’s ‘Mr. Cricket’ registered 733 runs in the 6th season of the IPL and became the joint highest run-scorer in a single season at that time. Mike Hussey average 52.35 in the 17 games he played and smacked 6 fifties. His highest score remained to be 95 which came against KKR in the 38th match. CSK won the match 14 runs. Hussey ranks no. 5 on this list of most runs in a single IPL season in history.

#4. Chris Gayle (733 runs, IPL 2012)

‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle smacked 733 runs in the IPL 2012 when he was brought in as a replacement for injured Dirk Nannes by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gayle averaged 61.08 in 14 innings, striking at 160.74 with 7 fifties and a century to his name. His highest of 128* came against Delhi Daredevils in the 67th match which RCB won by 21 runs. Kiwi captain Kane Williamson ranks next with 735 runs to his name in IPL 2018. Williamson played 17 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad and averaged 52.50 while striking at 142.44. The 31-year old ranks 3rd 

on this list of most runs in a single IPL season in history. Williamson was retained by SRH for 14 crores and will be captaining the team in the 2022 IPL edition.

#2. David Warner (848 runs, IPL 2016)

Australian opener David Warner smacked 848 runs in IPL 2016 in 17 matches, averaging 60.57 with a strike rate of 151.42. Consequently, Sunrisers Hyderabad also won the IPL title in 2016. Warner was bought by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 mega auction and will play for Delhi in the upcoming season of the IPL. The left-hander ranks #2 on this list of most runs in a single IPL season in history.

#1. Virat Kohli (973 runs, IPL 2016)

Virat Kohli was on a tremendous roll in the IPL 2016, as he smacked 4 centuries and 7 fifties in the 16 matches he played. With a tremendous average of 81.08, Kohli scored 973 runs in the season and ranks #1 in this list of most runs in a single IPL season in history. Kohli was retained by RCB prior to the IPL 2022 auction and will be representing the franchise for a 15th consecutive season.
