#5. Chennai Super Kings (240/5 vs Kings XI Punjab, 2008)

Chennai Super Kings took on Kings XI Punjab in the 2nd match of the 1st season of the IPL, and smacked a total of 240/5 while batting first. ‘Mr. Cricket’ Michael Hussey was the top scorer for CSK with an unbeaten 116* runs off 54 balls, smacking 8 fours and 9 sixes. This total puts Chennai Super Kings on the 5th spot in the list of best batting teams ranked by team totals.

#4. Kolkata Knight Riders (245/6 vs Kings XI Punjab, 2018)

After being asked to bat first, the KKR batting order decided to open their hands against a helpless Punjab bowling attack. Sunil Narine opened the innings for Kolkata and smacked 75 runs off just 36 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Dinesh Karthik also scored 50 runs in 23 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes as Knight Riders posted a total of 245/6 in the first innings, which ranks fourth in this list of best batting teams in IPL. KKR won the match by 31 runs. 

#3. Chennai Super Kings (246/5 vs Rajasthan Royals, 2010)

In yet another high-scoring match, Chennai Super Kings opener Murali Vijay smacked 127 runs in 56 balls with 8 fours and 11 sixes, while Albie Morkel played a thunderous knock of 62 runs in 34 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes as Chennai posted a total of 246/5 against Rajasthan Royals. This performance by CSK in 2010 puts them third in this list of best batting teams in IPL, and the 4-time champions went on to win the match by 23 runs. 

#2. Royal Challengers Bangalore (248/3 vs Gujarat Lions, 2016)

Bangalore’s no. 17 and 18, and a fan favourite duo, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli came out all guns blazing in the match against Gujarat Lions, as both the batting greats added a majestic 229 runs in just 97 balls for the third wicket. AB de Villiers scored an unbeaten 129 runs off 52 balls with 10 fours and 12 sixes while captain Virat smashed 109 runs off 55 balls with 5 fours and 8 sixes as RCB posted a total of 248/3, and went on to win the match by 144 runs. This performance puts RCB on the top spots in the best batting teams in IPL ranked. 

#1. Royal Challengers Bangalore (263/5 vs Pune Warriors India, 2013)

Gayle storm hit Pune Warriors India very hard, even in comparison to the Universe Boss’ usual style of 

play. Chris Gayle fired up the Chinnaswamy Stadium while opening for RCB, and smacked 175 runs off 66 balls with 13 fours and 17 sixes at an unbelievable strike rate of 265.15. RCB posted 263/5 against PWI and ranks first in this list of best batting teams in IPL. RCB won the match by a mammoth 130-run margin.
