IPL 2022 | IPL media rights value will mirror the rise and growth of the tournament, says Jay Shah

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has said that media rights value of the IPL will be a testament to the growth of the league after addition of two new teams. BCCI is all set to float tenders for the IPL media rights of 2023-27 cycle as early as the coming week and will complete the e-auction in two months.

IPL is the most popular league around the world. The cash-rich league will feature 10 teams from this season. Star India had obtained the media rights of the tournament for the 2018-22 cycle paying 163.48 billion rupees. BCCI is now all set to float tenders for the IPL media rights for the 2023-27 cycle. The e-auction might get completed in two months.

BCCI secretary Jay shah said that the media rights value will reflect the rise and growth of the tournament.

“The aspirational value of Brand IPL has surpassed anyone and everyone’s expectations. “The valuation will mirror the rise and growth of the league.”Shah said, as quoted by Reuters.

Shah further added the addition of two new teams will increase the value of the tournament.

“Two new teams mean more opportunities to the entire cricketing ecosystem. You can gauge the level of interest with the valuation for two new teams,” he stated.

“In just 14 seasons, we have recorded unprecedented figures that other popular leagues reached after decades. Not just television but look at the numbers on digital.”
