Patna Pirates came out on top, 27-26, in what was a see-saw battle with Gujarat Giants in the 42nd match of the Pro Kabaddi League(PKL) season 8.

Gujarat began well as raiders helped them gain a four-point lead in the beginning but Pirates’ defenders brought them back into the game to equalize the scoreline at 9-9. Just when the Giants were once again looking to break the shackles, the Pirates wiped them out for an ALL OUT going into the end of the first half. 

Resuming the second half with a scoreline of 13-15 in favor of Patna Pirates, defenders from both teams raised their game up. Patna’s captain, Sajin, got two super tackles in a row to not only earn his high 5 but also help his team a crucial two-point lead. 

Giants raiders kept going in for the aggressive raids but Patna kept maintaining their lead. Prashanth Kumar’s do-or-die raid, with only five minutes remaining, helped Pirates gain two more points and gain a four-point lead over Giants. 

After that, It was all about the Pirates maintaining that lead, and they did it smartly by playing out time and didn’t let Gujarat overtake them as the match ended with a scoreline of 27-26 in favor of Patna.
