Puneri Paltan vs Patna Pirates (26-38)

Three-time champions Patna Pirates defeated Puneri Paltan by 38-26 after Pirates raider Sachin score 10 points. Along with Sachin, Patna’s defence trio of Sunil (4 points), Mohammadrez Chiyaneh (3 points), and Sajin C (3 points). Puneri Paltan’s lack of quality raider and performances from youngsters led them to their second loss in three matches.

All attention was on Puneri Paltan’s star raider Rahul Chaudhari, who was in the starting 7 but was later substituted for youngster Mohit Goyat by Anup Kumar in the first half. The raiding trio of Aslam Inamdar and Pankaj Mohite caused concerns for the Patna defence. However, Prashanth Kumar Rai and Sachin were equally effective at the other end. 

Pune coach Anup Kumar expected from his set of raiders and brought in Shubham Shelke for Pankaj Mohite in the second half. But Patna kept fighting back, thanks to the largely confident tackles from the likes of Mohammadreza Chiyaneh and Sajin. With 10 minutes remaining, Patna had a four-point lead and that was extended a’ Pune’s plan to play on the Do-or-Die raid backfired. Sachin scored two points in the crucial raid for Patna to inspire another ALL OUT in the 13th minute and open a 10-point lead.

Pune coach Anup Kumar expected more from his set of raiders as he brought in Shubham Shelke for Pankaj Mohite in the second half. Patna kept making comebacks courtesy of confident tackles from Mohammedreza Chiyaneh and Sajin. 

With 10 minutes to go on the clock, Patna had a four-point lead which was further extended as Pune’s plan to play on the do-or-die backfired. Sachin scored two points in the important raid for Patna as they inflicted another All Out in the 13th minute and extended the lead to 10 points.

Patna managed to maintain their momentum and though Sunil & Vishal Bharadwaj were penalized with yellow cards in the final minutes of the match as the match got intense. However, the three-time champions prevented Pune from making a comeback and grabbed a crucial win.

Telugu Titans vs Haryana Steelers (37-39)

Meetu scored 12 points as Haryana Steelers registered their first win in the Pro Kabaddi League season 8, as they defeated Telugu Titans by 39-37. Haryana took an early lead and made sure that they held on to their lead for the major part of the match. Meetu came out as the best player for Haryana Steelers in the match with 12 raid points.

Haryana Steelers produced a tremendous tackle and were leading 5-3 in the fourth minute of the match. Titans tried and fought back, picking up 2 quick points in the process. Moments later, Titans took the lead at 6-5.

Steelers however pulled off a fantastic Super Tackle and took the lead. Haryana inflicted an All Out in the 13th minute and took a 5-point lead at 16-11. Rohit Gulia effected a brilliant raid in the 16th minute as Steelers led at 20-13. Haryana continued to pressurize their opponents and went into halftime leading by 23-19.

Meetu carried out a brilliant raid in the opening minutes of the second half as the Steelers led by seven points at 27-20. Moments later, the Haryana side effected an all-out and extended their lead further. The Titans tried to fight back with a Super Raid in the 28th minute, however, the Steelers carried out a tackle moments later and kept forging ahead.

Meetu pulled off another brilliant raid in the 31st minute as the Steelers took a 10-point lead at 36-26. The Haryana side rode on the momentum and ensured that they stayed in the lead until the last minute of the match.
