Kriti Sanon Says, Crew isn’t about criticizing men: “Wasn’t a feminist manifesto.”

Kriti Sanon, who recently appeared in Rajesh A. Krishnan’s “Crew,” produced by Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, discussed her latest film in an interview with Elle India. She clarified that the groundbreaking heist movie, featuring Kareena Kapoor and Tabu alongside her, was not created with the intention to criticize men.

“It’s just about good, clean fun”

“I knew this wasn’t a manifesto on feminism when I first heard the script from her (Rhea Kapoor),” Kriti stated. It wasn’t a male-bashing situation. Three women outwitting the authorities to take a gold cachet for themselves was the only thing going on here, aside from good, clean fun.”

About the film

“Crew” narrates the tale of three women – Kareena, Tabu, and Kriti – amidst the backdrop of the struggling airline industry. However, their paths intertwine with unforeseen circumstances, leading them into a labyrinth of deceit and falsehoods.

Kapil Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh are also included in the comedic heist. Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Rajesh Sharma are also members of the Crew ensemble cast. Production credits go to Anil Kapoor Film and Communication Network’s Rhea Kapoor and Anil Kapoor as well as Balaji Motion Pictures’ Ekta and Shobha Kapoor.

Crew review

According to an excerpt from Hindustan Times’ review of “Crew,” the highlight of the movie is the camaraderie among the trio, the portrayal of female friendships, and the emotional (and humorous) challenges they face amidst adversity. While the narrative occasionally takes on a sitcom-like tone, and some convenient plot developments may raise eyebrows and question the characters’ intelligence, overall, the movie remains enjoyable to watch.

Crew sequel

Rhea expressed her apprehension towards sequels but acknowledged the excitement surrounding the possibility of a sequel to “Crew.” Despite her initial fears, she admitted that the open-ended conclusion of the film could pave the way for an engaging follow-up. She shared her surprise when the writers approached her with sequel ideas just a week after completing the film, indicating the strong potential for continuation.

Rhea Kapoor confirmed that a sequel for “Crew” was proposed only a week after they wrapped up shooting. Despite her usual reluctance towards sequels, she expressed openness to the idea this time, considering the excitement and potential for a fun follow-up.

Rhea Kapoor, co-producer of “Crew,” admitted her apprehension towards sequels but noted that the open-ended conclusion of the box-office hit naturally lends itself to a Part 2.

For fans who felt that Rajesh A Krishnan’s heist comedy “Crew” concluded too quickly, there might be good news on the horizon. In an interview with Variety, co-producer Rhea Kapoor confirmed that they are considering turning the film into a franchise and have an idea for a sequel. Starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon in lead roles, “Crew” could potentially expand into an exciting series for fans to enjoy.
