The Delhi Capitals defeated the Gujarat Titans handily to move up to sixth place in the IPL 2024 points standings.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, the Delhi Capitals bowling team showed great energy as they bowled the Gujarat Titans for 89 runs and won by a dominant six wickets. After winning the toss, Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals chose to bowl against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans.

Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Titans by six wickets in a low-scoring match. Choosing to ball first, the Capitals easily defeated the Gujarat Titans for 89 runs in 17.3 overs, giving the bowlers an opportunity after they were reached all over the field in the final few games of the elite competitors.With figures of 3/14, Mukesh Kumar was DC’s most successful bowler; Ishant Sharma (2/8) and Tristan Stubbs (2/11) each claimed two wickets.

On April 17, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will play at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. GT was in sixth position on the points table after winning three of their last six games. DC was in ninth  position after winning two of their last six games. After Yesterday’s match dynamics changed DC climbed to sixth position and GT went to seventh position. NRR helped DC to climb to sixth position from yesterday’s match.

Ahmedabad on Wednesday. After chasing 90 runs, DC easily reached 92/4 in 8.5 overs, especially to the undefeated runs of Rishabh Pant (16*) and Sumit Kumar (9*). Two wickets were taken by Sandeep Warrier for GT’s bowling unit.

With six wickets remaining, DC completed the 90-run chase in 8.5 overs. Earlier, DC chose to field and bowled out  GT for an 89. With a 31 off 24 balls, Rashid Khan emerged as the highest scorer, and GT’s batting surrender was complete. The only other batsmen to achieve double figures were Rahul Tewatia (10) and Sai Sudharsan (12). With this IPL total, GT has surpassed its previous lowest score of 125. For DC, Mukesh Kumar (3/14) was the most effective bowler. 

Post Match, Pant said, “Lots of things to be pleased about. We talked about the champion thought process and our team showed today that we can play like that and were really happy to see that. [on the bowling] Definitely one of the best, it’s early on in the tournament, can’t say much as we can improve individually. The only thought process before coming on to the field was coming in a better way, that’s the only thought when I was going through my rehab.”

“The only conversation we had before the chase was – let’s get it as early as possible, we lost a few run-rate points earlier and we covered it up. We just love being in Ahmedabad, we love the stadium, the vibe here and looking forward to play more matches here. We just want to enjoy our win, one at a time and move forward learning from it,” he further added.
