Chhattisgarh Crash: 8 Dead, 23 injured in Collision

Five women and three children were killed and 23 persons injured when a goods vehicle they were traveling in collided with a truck in Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district, police said on Monday, April 29.

In Chhattisgarh’s Bemetara district, a collision between a goods vehicle and a truck resulted in the deaths of five women and three children, with 23 others injured, as reported by the police on Monday.

Late Sunday night near Kathia village, the victims were returning from a family function when the accident occurred, Police added. According to the official, the victims were villagers of Patharra village who were coming back from a family gathering in Tiraiyya village. The vehicle was carrying around 40-50 passengers at the time of the accident.

Those who were killed were named Bhuri Nishad (50), Neera Sahu (55), Geeta Sahu (60), Agniya Sahu (60), Khushbu Sahu (39), along with three children: Madhu Sahu (5), Rikesh Nishad (6), and Twinkle Nishad (6), according to the official.

23 injured people were admitted to nearby hospitals. Two hospitals admitted the injured people. According to the officer, four patients with serious injuries were later sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Raipur.

Earlier this week, a tragic incident occurred when a Delhi-bound bus collided head-on with a truck on the Lucknow-Agra expressway near Thathiya in Kannauj district. Four people lost their lives, and 34 others were injured. The police reported that the bus broke through the divider and crossed to the other side of the road before the collision, causing both vehicles to overturn due to the impact.

Three people, including an eight-year-old girl, lost their lives, and 14 others were injured when their tempo collided with a stationary truck on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway during Thursday night and Friday morning this week. The police reported that around 22 devotees, including 8 children from Jalandhar, were returning from Mathura-Vrindavan in a Tata tempo. The accident occurred near Padheni village when the tempo hit a parked truck on the roadside.
