The over four-month-long dry period is finally going to end, as seen by the overcast sky that Bengaluru awoke to in numerous parts on Friday morning. The intense heat and scorching heat in the “Garden City,” which causes people to install air conditioners and coolers in their homes.
Bengaluru saw some rainfall after almost 150 days, which brought much-needed relief to the capital of Karnataka, which was suffering from a severe heatwave and a water crisis. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the rain may persist in Bengaluru until April 23.
“Heat wave to severe heat wave spell likely to continue over east India till April 23 and heat wave spell over parts of south peninsular India on April 19. Thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over northeast India between April 19 and April 22. Rainfall spells with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds over northwest India on April 19 and 20 and a fresh spell on April 22 and 23,” the IMD’s daily bulletin read.
As per the meteorological center’s daily report on Friday, there is a high probability of rainfall at isolated locations in both rural and urban Bengaluru until April 20. They are namely, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru Urban, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Vijayanagara, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir and Ballari districts.
The meteorological department has additionally issued a severe rainfall alert for isolated regions within Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Shivamogga districts of South Interior Karnataka (SIK) for Friday. “Hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts till April 19,” the IMD’s daily bulletin read.
“Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds with wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph likely at isolated places over the state on April 19 to April 21,” the weather report updated.
Additionally, it stated that till April 21, isolated locations in Karnataka are expected to see thunderstorms and lightning together with gusty winds that can reach 30 to 40 mp.
Additionally, there may be rain in other Karnataka cities till April 23. The highest temperature won’t significantly alter, though, even with the rain. Over the next few days, IMD has predicted a gradual rise of two to three degrees Celsius over the southern state. The news agency reported that for Bengaluru city, the next 48 hours are expected to be partly cloudy with a chance of light rain or thundershowers in the evening or at night. It also stated that the maximum and minimum temperatures were probably going to be roughly 37 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.
