David to replace Smith in the World Cup starting lineup

According to Australia’s head of selection George Bailey, Steve Smith will not be starting for Australia against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup. Steve Smith won’t be playing for Australia against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup match on Saturday in Sydney.

The 33-year-old was a part of the team that won the World Cup the previous year, but he has demonstrated adaptability by playing a variety of roles, and he is not the only one who has had trouble scoring runs in recent T20 internationals in India and at home.

In response to a question regarding whether Smith will play a part in the upcoming Super 12 match at the SCG, Australia’s chairman of selectors George Bailey provided a strong hint about Smith’s status.

All of our 15 players, in my opinion, have important roles to play, but I don’t believe Steve will be starting in the XI, Bailey stated.

“I believe that if we ever require a role from him, then without a doubt,”

Tim David will be able to take over the No. 6 position as a result of Smith’s expected absence from the starting lineup.
