The seasoned wicket-keeper suffered a back injury during the 30th game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday, October 30 at Optus Stadium in Perth between Temba Bavuma’s South Africa National Cricket Team and Rohit Sharma’s India National Cricket Team.

Dinesh Karthik, an experienced wicketkeeper-batsman, was pictured writhing in agony as he grasped his back and was on his knees at the conclusion of South Africa’s 15th over of their innings.

After the physio had arrived to assess the seasoned player, Karthik was later seen leaving the pitch while carrying his back. After Karthik left the field, the replacement wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant strode out to the middle and held the wickets for the final five overs.

I am aware of his back problems. Naturally, the physio will provide a report, and then we’ll have more information, said Bhuvneshwar at the post-match press conference.

Although the specifics of his injury are unknown, Karthik is listed as a doubtful starter for the game against Bangladesh, according to the PTI.

India and Bangladesh will square off at the Adelaide Oval in the 35th game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday, November 2.
