IPL 2022 | Kolkata Knight Riders vs Gujarat Titans – Preview, head to head, where to watch, and betting tips

In-form Gujarat Titans (GT) will go up against depleted Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday (April 23) in Match 35 of IPL 2022. While the GT beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by three wickets in their last game, the KKR lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven runs before heading to this contest.

Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans (GT) got off to a remarkable start in their debut season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They won five of their opening six outings, of which one in their skipper’s absence. Their next challenge will be against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who will be coming off to this fixture on Saturday (April 23) after losing three games on the trot.

Interestingly, all three recent KKR defeats came at Brabourne Stadium. But the match against the GT will be played at a different venue –  Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy. Still, the Shreyas Iyer-led side needs to rework plenty of issues – in both batting and bowling – to get themselves back in the winning ways.

It would be shocking if the KKR do not bring in Tim Southee for Pat Cummins, who has conceded 190 runs in 15.5 overs in IPL 2022 for a solitary wicket. Varun Chakravarthy seemed to be out of form as well, and the Purple and Gold Brigade may replace him with Ramesh Kumar, a mystery spinner who is yet to feature in professional cricket.

For the GT, Hardik, who missed the match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) due to groin concerns, is expected to be back in charge.

Form Guide

While the KKR are heading to this fixture on the back of three successive defeats, the GT won their last two games, against the CSK and the RR respectively.

Head to Head

This is GT’s debut season, so the contest will be the first between these two sides.

Predicted XIs

Kolkata Knight Riders: Shreyas Iyer (c), Baba Indrajith (wk), Sunil Narine, Aaron Finch, Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Tim Southee, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, Ramesh Kumar.

Gujarat Titans: Hardik Pandya (c), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal, Mohammed Shami.

Best betting tip

Gujarat Titans to hit more fours than Kolkata Knight Riders @ 1.72

On paper, the GT have more stroke players than the KKR. While the KKR boasts of having power-hitters, such as Andre Russell, Aaron Finch, Sunil Narine, and many more. So, our best betting suggestion would be that the GT should hit more fours than the KKR.

Match Prediction

Despite the GT being the superior side on paper, it would be highly unlikely to see the KKR losing four games on the trot, especially with the bunch of match-winners they have got.
