Top 5 Highest Scores in Powerplay in IPL History

IPL 2022 is set to start on March 26th as the extravaganza returns to India for its 15th season. After being held in UAE for 1 and a half years, the tournament is returning and a total of 70 league matches and 4 playoffs will be played in the 15th season of the IPL, which comprises 10 teams.

In a T20 match, the first 6 overs of an inning are called powerplay, where only a maximum of two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle. The batting team tries to maximise these restrictions to get a good start to innings.

Let’s take a look at the top five highest scores in the powerplay in IPL history:

5. 86/1

Kings XI Punjab smashed 86 runs inside the powerplay, losing just one wicket in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 39th match of the IPL. Manan Vohra and Wriddhiman Saha did most of the damage during the powerplay.

4. 87/2

Kochi Tuskers Kerala smacked 87 runs with the loss of two wickets during the IPL 2011 against Rajasthan Royals. Kerala lost Mahela Jayawardene and Brandon McCullum during this brutal assault inside the powerplay.
