Let’s have a look at the outcomes of the two matches played on Monday.

Tamil Thalaivas vs U Mumba (30-30)

Tamil Thalaivas & U Mumba had to settle for a 30-30 tie in the 15th match of the Pro Kabaddi League season 8. U Mumba’s raider V Ajith Kumar was the highlight of the match as he scored 15 points for his team, to secure a tie.

Tamil Thalaivas’ defence left no stone unturned in tackling Mumba raiders during the start of the match. Thalaivas’ captain Surjeet Singh supported by right corner Sahil Singh in the left corner, successfully tackled Mumba star raiders Abhishek Singh & V Ajith Kumar in successive raids. Tamil Thalaivas’ tall & thin raiders, Manjeet & Bhavani Rajput pulled off impressive raids due to which Tamil Thalaivas inflicted an All Out on U Mumba in the 7th minute of the match.

Thalaivas had six successful tackles under their belt as opposed to none by U Mumba in the first 15 minutes, but they lost their course during the final minutes of the first half.

U Mumba were able to score 9 points in the last 5 minutes of the first half. Ajith Kumar executed a tremendous 4-point Super Raid and additional 2 points for inflicting an All Out on Tamil Thalaivas, reducing the Tamil Nadu-based franchise’s lead to mere 2 points.

The first half ended with a scoreline of 17-14 in favour of Tamil Thalaivas but U Mumba already had brought momentum to their side. Although, Tamil Thalaivas continued with their aggressive approach in the starting minutes of the second half as well, where Bhavani Rajput looked like their best raider.

But the Tamil Thalaivas continued to struggle against their ex-raider V Ajith Kumar who scored a Super 10 and helped Mumbai keep up with Tamil Thalaivas’ pace and his raiding inflicted an All Out on Thalaivas with just 6 minutes left in the match.

In the final raid, Ajith Kumar went in for a touchpoint instead of sacrificing himself for a bonus point, and the Thalaivas defence clinched him to secure a tie.

Top Performers:

  • Best Raider – V Ajith Kumar (U Mumba) 15 Raid Points
  • Best Defender – Sahil Singh (Tamil Thalaivas) 3 Tackle Points

UP Yoddha vs Jaipur Pink Panthers (29-32)

Arjun Deshwal was the start of the match for Jaipur Pink Panthers as they defeated UP Yoddha by 32-29 in the 16th match of the Pro Kabaddi League season 8. The young raider Deshwal was bought by Jaipur Pink Panthers in the PKL auction after playing for U Mumba, ended up scoring 11 points in this match for Jaipur. The Rajasthan-based franchise’s captain Deepak Niwas Hooda also contributed with 9 crucial points.

On the other hand, it was yet another disappointing outing for UP Yoddha’s Pardeep Narwal who scored mere 3 raid points in his 12 raids.

‘Record Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal’s lack of raid points has become a huge concern for UP Yoddha, who went all out in the PKL auctions to acquire the raider for a sum of 1.65 crores. However, the UP raiding unit was carried by Rohit Tomar while the corner defenders – Nitesh Kumar & Sumit eventually started getting their act together. Due to this, Jaipur’s lead was reduced to just 4 points with 10 minutes left in the match. Arjun Deshwal meanwhile, completed his 3rd Super 10 for Jaipur Pink Panthers in their third match this season.

With six minutes to go in the match, Jaipur had a 7-point lead but UP found their saviour in Rohit Tomar. The tall and thin raider scored points in both departments to make sure Jaipur didn’t get away, with 5 minutes still to go. Pardeep Narwal, on the other hand, was ineffective in the closing minutes of the match as well.

Despite great raiding by Rohit and Surender Gill, the UP defence could not nail down Deepak Hooda in the final raid which allowed Jaipur to win the match.

Even though Rohit & Surender Gill kept bringing raid points, the UP defence failed to keep a check on Deepak Hooda in the final raid, as he went on to win the match for Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Top Performers:

  • Best Raider – Arjun Deshwal (Jaipur Pink Panthers) 11 Raid Points
  • Best Defender – Nitin Rawal (Jaipur Pink Panthers) 4 Tackle Points
