ISL 2020-21 | Have To Cross The Kerala Blasters FC Hurdle, Asserts Khalid Jamil

Northeast United FC interim coach admitted that they must pass the last hurdle to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2020-21 Indian Super League. The Highlanders will be up against Kerala Blasters FC in their last match this Friday evening, at the Tilak Maidan, in Vasco.

Northeast United FC is yet to lose a game since Khalid Jamil took over the baton from former manager Gerard Nus, having claimed four wins, three draws. With them up against SC East Bengal last evening, they wasted no time to inflict a 2-1 win and further enhanced their chances of making it to the play-offs. Their interim coach is now focused on their last game against Kerala Blasters FC – a hurdle which they must overcome.

“We are thinking about our points and the next game and that is the most important thing for us. I am not nervous but there was pressure. But I believe in my boys. We have one last hurdle. We must work hard to get a positive result,” said Khalid Jamil, during the post-match press conference.

The Highlanders were leading 2-0 in the second half, but a goal in the 86th minute meant it was a few nervous moments for them. Eventually, Northeast United FC held on to the lead, while Khalid Jamil was not too disappointed with the goal conceded.

“I am not disappointed at all (with the goals conceded). The players are working very hard, everybody is working hard and I am very happy to get the three points,” stated the interim coach.
