Don’t Think There’s A Crisis At Atletico Madrid Right Now, Admits Jan Oblak

In light of their 1-0 loss to Chelsea, Jan Oblak has denied that Atletico Madrid are facing a crisis despite the club losing back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Los Rojiblancos entered the game as the favourites but Thomas Tuchel’s men walked away with the first-leg victory.

With Atletico Madrid sitting six points, before the weekend, ahead of second-place Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, many expected Chelsea to have a tough time. But a shocking loss to Levante saw the Los Blancos cut the gap to three before the Blues managed to walk away with a 1-0 win over Diego Simeone’s men. That means, the Los Rojiblancos have lost two consecutive games for the first time this season and it has many fans concerned.

Not only that, the word crisis has been thrown about with many worried that Simeone and his side are falling apart at their seams. That claim has been refuted by Jan Oblak as he admitted that he doesn’t “think it is a crisis” although the goalkeeper did admit that the “team is strong” to get through this. He further added that Atleti struggled for form in both December and January but things are picking up now.

“I don’t think it’s a crisis. Yes, it’s different to what we’ve experienced over the rest of the season, but [football] is like that. This team is strong. We’ll get through this. We weren’t perfect in December and January and we aren’t bad now,” Oblak said, reported ESPN.
